Schedule for the academic year

The academic year 2016/2017 starts on 1 October 2016 and ends on 30 September 2017

It consists of two semesters:

Winter semester: 2 October 2016 to 24 February 2017
Summer semester: 25 February 2017 to 30 September 2017

Lectures and classes will be held in the following periods:

  • 2 October 2016 to 22 December 2016
  • 3 January 2017 to 29 January 2017
  • 25 February 2017 to 13 April 2017
  • 19 April 2017 to 14 June 2017

Examination periods

winter examination period:30 January 2017 to 11 February 2017
winter resit examination period: 18 February 2017 to 24 February 2017
summer examination period:16 June 2017 to 29 June 2017
summer resit examination period: 1 September 2017 to 15 September 2017

Holidays

Christmas break: 23 December 2016 to 2 January 2017
winter break: 12 February 2017 to 17 February 2017
Easter break: 14 April 2017 to 18 April 2017
summer holiday break: 30 June 2017 to 30 September 2017
Additional holidays:

  • Friday in the week when "Juwenalia" Student Festival is held

Note

The rector can change the dates of the examination periods, as put forward by the dean of a faculty and approved by the Student Government Faculty Council, provided that the whole curriculum of a given programme is fulfilled.

For a valid reason, the dean of a faculty can cancel some or all lectures and classes on other days.

The deans are responsible for ensuring that all lectures and classes present in the curriculum take place. The e-learning methods and techniques may also be used to achieve this goal. The use of such methods and techniques is regulated by separate rules.

The period from September 16 to 30, 2017 is devoted to closing the 2016/2017 academic year and starting the 2017/2018 academic year.

The details concerning the organisation of the academic year for the Medical College are subject to discretion of the Vice-Rector for Medical College.

The details concerning the organisation of the academic year for part-time study programmes at a given faculty are subject to the dean's discretion in compliance with the plans and curricula of the programmes.
